Labor and delivery

I'm beginning this blog from when i delivered Brielle. She was born on Aug 11,2010 at 4:15 pm. Before I share any of her info I want to begin w/my labor. I went into my doctors appt just like I had been for the past 8 months. I didn't expect anything different just wanted to get in and out as fast as possible. Seems like an eternity waiting for the doctors in the waiting room. My appt was at 1:30 pm I had left work early to get there in time. I sat as usual for about 30-45 min before getting into a room, the nurse checked my weight (which any girl hates :)) and my blood pressure. Then the doctor came in and measured my abdomen and said that since I hadn't grown that I needed another ultrasound. This was about the sixth one we had done and I actually didn't mind them since I got to see my beautiful daughter every time. Although I had them make sure she was a girl every ultrasound lol. She wasn't really growing so he sent me for a stress test. The stress test she didn't fluctuate w/her heart rate enough so the doctor told me we are going to have a baby today.

So at 4:30 pm on 8/10 i walked to the labor and delivery floor in the hospital. Mike had actually left me to go to work. He just started a new job at ISU. I had to call him and tell him I was walking to the hospital. He met me 15 min later. I was placed in room 6 and the nurse told me to put the gown on and she hooked me up to all the monitors. Ironically I was having contractions 5 min apart and didn't know it. At about midnight that night the doctor placed a catheter with two balloons filled with 80ml of saline in each. Not long after I started to feel the contractions and asked for my epidural. THANK HEAVENS After 12 hrs this progressed my dilation from a one to a five. The doctor removed the catheter and went home to rest. Within three hrs i was dilated to a ten and began pushing without the doctor present.  Mike and the nurse helped me push for about 30 min and until the head was visible. The nurse told me to stop pushing and called the doctor three times  and told him to hurry over.  He arrived shortly and few pushes later she was here.

Brielle Faith Nestler born at 4:15 pm, weighed 4 lbs -11 oz, and 18 in. long. She arrived with open eyes and head full of dark hair. That's why i had all that heart burn!
