So I have been going back and forth from United Health Care and Portneuf Medical for months trying to get Brie's initial medical bill taken care of. At the beginning UHC needed add info from PMC for Brie being in the NICU, which I ended up having to call on another four times. Then I asked for itemized bills and when I discovered that Bries bill had an additional $1000.00 for an oxygen mask she never received I called the hospital and got that taken care of. All I can say to that is really make sure you keep track of your medical bills and how much you have paid. By disputing the 1000.00 UHC got confused and thought there were two bills I had to correct that as well. Each time I call PMC I get sent to a voice mail message for a Diane and every time I leave a message w/an update on the bill and tell her to call me. During this time I continue to receive bills for about 10,000.00 telling me its 30 days past due then 60 finally I get hold of UHC and get frustrated but nice with the rep and she says she will get it taken care of. She tells me it should take about 14 business days from 1/6/11 for PMC to get the check.
So I once again frustrated call Diane and leave a message thinking this time it will finally be resolved. Well on Wed I open a bill from PMC thinking finally I've done my job. To my surprise it was another 10,000.00 bill. Extremely frustrated I leave a mean message on Diane's voice mail and call the hospital again and say that I'm not talking to Diane again. She transfers me to a different advisor voice mail where I very bluntly tell him this will be the last time I call and that I better get a call back. I call my Mom that night frustrated and she said she knows someone from going to school that works in billing. She calls him on Thurs leaves a message and he returns her call. Mom is at work in a doctors office and there is a patient at her window when her friend calls her back to discuss my bill. She explains to this friend how frustrated I am w/this Diane and how she never returns my calls. Also that I have called her over 20 times. The patient at her window looks right at her and says "I'm Diane". My Mom stops doesnt know what to say and says "youre the Diane that my daughter has been calling. Why have u not called her back?, do you know she has a heart condition and youre causing more stress." After she leaves she calls me and I laugh my head off. What are the chances of that happening one in a million. So I had to document it in our blog. To end the story I did get a corrected statement in the mail three days later.
